BioCalcium
BioCalcium is a newly developed calcium product, formulated as a genuine solution.
BioCalcium is rapidly absorbed by the plants and does not inconvenience golf players in connection with fertilising. It is therefore now possible to apply an often overlooked macronutrient easily and rationally.
BioCalcium
• Is absorbed through both leaves and roots
• Does not increase soil pH
• Helps to neutralise any toxic substances in the plant cell
Note also: Studies by Smith et al. (1989) have shown that calcium deficiency results in increased susceptibility to particular diseases in Agrostis capillaris (colonial bentgrass) and Festuca r. rubra (red fescue). Increased application of calcium has reduced attack by Pythium blight (Moore et al. 1973) and Corticum (red thread) (Muse & Couch 1965).
A calcium deficiency may occur even if the soil has a significant calcium content. This is seen first in the growth points, when calcium cannot be mobilised from older leaves to new leaves. Calcium is transported in the plant with the transpiration current, and a deficiency therefore typically appears in periods of low transpiration. This means that calcium deficiency appears primarily:
• In periods with heavy precipitation and/or in periods of high humidity
• In periods of strong growth (where the grasses’ calcium uptake cannot keep up)
NOTE that strong growth can be induced by excessive fertilising with nitrogen.
Apply BioCalcium at the rate of about 150 kg (approx. 110 l)/ha/ year in three applications. Equivalent to a dose of approx. 35 l/ha/ treatment.
Apply BioCalcium diluted in 200-250 l water, simply, easily, rationally and precisely with a standard field spray fitted with ordinary nozzles.
